The Multi Role Support Vessel (MRSV) is a purpose built platform designed to support a broad spectrum of maritime operations, with a primary focus on enhancing the Royal Australian Navy’s diving capability. Its core role is to facilitate both training and operational dive tasks, enabling the safe and effective deployment, support, and recovery of divers. The MRSV supports a wide range of waterborne activities including launch and recovery of Swimmer Delivery Systems, Robotic and Autonomous Systems, portable tow fish, underwater sensors, minor salvage equipment, and exercise training aids. In addition to its primary role, the MRSV offers secondary capabilities that enhance operational flexibility. These include Mine Warfare and Maritime Geospatial Support such as deployment and recovery of Exercise Training Mines and RAS units, along with Range Support operations including towed target and torpedo recovery. The vessel also supports waterborne force protection activities.

With its broad mission envelope and integrated capabilities, the MRSV is a vital enabler of Australia’s naval readiness, contributing to operational effectiveness and training excellence across multiple maritime domains.
